Basketball Game Preview: Oxford Pirates vs. Tantasqua Regional Warriors

Oxford is 1-7 against Tantasqua Regional since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Oxford Pirates will be playing at home against the Tantasqua Regional Warriors at 6:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Oxford is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 59-57 heartbreaker at the hands of Auburn. That's two games in a row now that the Pirates have lost by exactly two points.

Meanwhile, Tantasqua Regional entered their tilt with Nashoba Regional on Monday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They put the hurt on the Wolves with a sharp 74-50 win. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 24 points or more this season.

Tantasqua Regional pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 24.9 points. As for Oxford, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.

Oxford came out on top in a nail-biter against Tantasqua Regional when the teams last played back in January of 2023, sneaking past 65-63. Will Oxford repeat their success, or does Tantasqua Regional have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
