Baseball Game Preview: Archbishop Hoban Knights vs. Ursuline Fighting Irish

The Archbishop Hoban Knights are taking a road trip to square off against the Ursuline Fighting Irish at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Archbishop Hoban's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Ursuline's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Archbishop Hoban is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Walsh Jesuit just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 3-2.

Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Ursuline's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Louisville by a score of 5-4.

Dom Polkovitch was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only five hits, the fewest he's had since back in April.

At the plate, Ursuline saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was CJ Snyder, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. Another was AJ Snyder, who earned two RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

Archbishop Hoban's record now sits at 12-5. As for Ursuline, their record is now 11-8.

Archbishop Hoban was able to grind out a solid win over Ursuline in their previous matchup back in April, winning 7-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
