Recap: Lecanto Panthers vs. Hernando Leopards

Make it six blowout wins for the Lecanto Panthers this season. They claimed a resounding 78-39 win over Hernando on the road. Given Lecanto's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 206th, while Hernando is ranked 529th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jt Tipton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 21 points and 5 assists. Tipton is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Josh Patrick, who scored 14 points along with seven assists.

Lecanto's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.4 points per game. As for Hernando, they now have a losing record at 9-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lecanto will square off against Crystal River at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hernando won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Hudson at 8:00 p.m. on January 17th. Hopefully Hudson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 last Thursday.
