Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Elida

Elida took a 14-run loss the last time they faced off against Non Varsity Opponent, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 15-14 win over Non Varsity Opponent on Monday. 15 seems to be a good number for the Tigers as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Elida's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Hardy Fraze, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Fraze is becoming a predictor of the Tigers' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't).

The victory was the third in a row for Elida, bringing their record up to 8-4.

Coming up, Elida will venture away from home to square off against Gateway Christian at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. Non Varsity Opponent has already played their next game (against Skiatook), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
