Football Game Preview: Douglas Trojans vs. Gervais Cougars + How To Watch

The Douglas Trojans will venture away from home to face off against the Gervais Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Douglas will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Douglas is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Dayton 21-18.

Douglas got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Reese Willis out in front who picked up 34 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Willis also hauled in two receiving touchdowns, which is notable because the Trojans are 4-1 when he posts at least two receiving touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise. Douglas also got a significant boost from Jaden Burkhart, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 142 yards.

Meanwhile, Gervais made easy work of Siuslaw on Friday and carried off a 48-28 victory. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Douglas better keep an eye on Johnny Mariano. He was instrumental in Gervais' win, rushing for 251 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. Those 251 rushing yards gave Mariano a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alex Toran, who rushed for 31 yards and a pair of scores.

Gervais was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 282 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Douglas' record is now 6-4. As for Gervais, their record now sits at 6-3.
