Baseball Recap: Franklin County Seahawks vs. Freeport Bulldogs

There's no place like home for Franklin County, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Monday. They skirted past the Freeport Bulldogs 7-5. For Franklin County, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 loss Freeport walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2019.

Cody Abercrombie was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching an inning while giving up no earned runs or hits (he also didn't allow any walks). Abercrombie has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances. Abercrombie was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Wil Luberto was excellent, going 2-for-3 with a stolen base, two RBI, and a double. Brayden McCall was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all two of his plate appearances.

On Freeport's side, Niles King III and Wade Digges did some serious damage despite the final result: King III scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Digges scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Franklin County's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Freeport, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

Franklin County will head out on the road to take on Seminole County at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Freeport, they will face off against Central at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Central's favor is that they have posted big run totals in their last three contests.
