Soccer Game Preview: South Pasadena vs. Salesian

The South Pasadena Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Salesian Mustangs at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. South Pasadena is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.1 goals per game this season.

South Pasadena's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Maranatha as South Pasadena made off with a 5-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won three matches by five goals or more so far this season.

They hit Maranatha with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Zach Millar (2), Emilio Gonzalez (2), and Nicholas Dragonas.

Meanwhile, Salesian had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Pirates 2-1. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Mustangs' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 639th, while the Pirates are ranked 163rd).

The win was also the third in a row for South Pasadena, bringing their record for this year to 6-1-1. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three games. As for Salesian, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5-1.
