Basketball Recap: Deposit-Hancock Falls Despite Big Games from Micah Simmons and Blake Fortunato

Deposit-Hancock and Southern Cayuga squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Deposit-Hancock had to settle for second. They received a blow as they fell 83-64 to the Southern Cayuga Chiefs. While Deposit-Hancock didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating Southern Cayuga 25-19 in the first quarter.

Despite the defeat, Deposit-Hancock had strong showings from Blake Fortunato, who en route to 33 points, and Micah Simmons, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Simmons has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more boards the last 19 times he's played.

Deposit-Hancock has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-9 record this season. Southern Cayuga is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
