Baseball Game Preview: Cary-Grove Trojans vs. Dundee-Crown Chargers

For the second straight game, Cary-Grove will face off against Dundee-Crown. The Trojans will head out to challenge the Chargers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cary-Grove has three straight wins, Dundee-Crown has 11 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Wednesday, Cary-Grove got the win against Dundee-Crown by a conclusive 11-1. Considering the Trojans have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Charlie Taczy was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jacob Duvall was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs. Another player making a difference was Ricky Barnes, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Cary-Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.

Dundee-Crown's defeat dropped their record down to 10-19. As for Cary-Grove, their record now sits at 18-10.
