Softball Recap: Lockhart Lions vs. Hays Hawks
Lockhart fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Hays on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 5-4. The loss continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Hawks: they've now lost seven in a row.
Lilly Villarreal was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she pitched 7.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Those four hits allowed gave her a new career-low. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Villarreal wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Marissa Sosa, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Lockhart's record is now 4-15. As for Hays, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.
