Baseball Game Preview: Brownstown/St. Elmo Eagles vs. Central A & M Raiders

The Brownstown/St. Elmo Eagles will challenge the Central A & M Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Brownstown/St. Elmo proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 16) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Woodlawn 6-5.

Meanwhile, Central A & M can bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Villa Grove 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Raiders have posted since May 10, 2024.

Brownstown/St. Elmo is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-13 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Central A & M, their win bumped their record up to 4-19.

Brownstown/St. Elmo suffered a grim 13-5 defeat to Central A & M in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
