Baseball Recap: Eagle Pass Comes Up Short

Eagle Pass had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 6-3-1 to make it four. They fell just short of the Boerne-Champion Chargers by a score of 4-3. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chargers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2022.

Eagle Pass saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was DJ Aranda, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

As for Boerne-Champion, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-1-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games.

On Boerne-Champion's side, Austin Garritano made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Garritano was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Owen Kuhl was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.

Looking ahead, Eagle Pass will be playing in front of their home fans against Caney Creek at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Boerne-Champion, they will take on Churchill in a tournament on Friday.
