Baseball Recap: The Academy Wildcats vs. Forge Christian Fury
The Academy had lost five straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 6-16 to make it six. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Forge Christian Fury. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Fury this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-3 on Monday.
The Academy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Mead, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
As for Forge Christian, the victory (which was their 15th in a row) raised their record to 19-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.
On Forge Christian's side, Jonathan Tipton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. Tipton has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

Looking ahead, The Academy will square off against Denver Christian at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Thunder's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Forge Christian, they will take on Platte Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Fury's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Broncos have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
