Football Recap: Adriano Elizarraraz's Menacing Defense Leads Camarillo over Rio Mesa + How To Watch

After losing to Rio Mesa the last time they met, Camarillo decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Scorpions came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 22-14 on Friday.

Shane Feller was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 200 yards and a pair of scores. What's more, he posted two rushing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in September of 2024.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Camarillo proved: they limited Rio Mesa to a paltry 2.7 yards per carry. While eight picked up at least one total tackle, Feller stood above the rest. He rushed for 200 yards and two TDs. Camarillo's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 5.2.

Camarillo's defense didn't let Alec Fontyn., get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, Adriano Elizarraraz was the leader with two sacks.

The victory got Camarillo back to even at 1-1. As for Rio Mesa, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Camarillo will head out to challenge Saugus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Rio Mesa, they will be playing at home against Ventura at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
