Baseball Recap: Germantown Find Success

After losing to Homestead the last time they met, Germantown decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Warhawks came out on top against the Highlanders by a score of 5-2 on Saturday.

Logan Zaverl tossed a big game, striking out 12 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Jon Murkowski was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Ian Demichiel, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Germantown's win bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Homestead, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Germantown will head out to face off against Brookfield Central at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Homestead, they will venture away from home to challenge Hartford at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Highlanders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Orioles have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
