Volleyball Recap: Durham Academy's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Durham Academy entered their tilt with Ravenscroft on Friday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Ravens. This was payback for the Cavaliers, who suffered a 3-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Durham Academy was especially dominant in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-16, 20-25, 25-23.

Durham Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alice Chen led the charge by getting 12 digs and one assist. Chen is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last eight games she's played.

Durham Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 15 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces in four consecutive contests.

Durham Academy's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Ravenscroft, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Durham Academy will welcome East Chapel Hill at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Ravenscroft, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Greensboro Day School at 5:30 p.m.
