Preview: Monument Academy Lynx vs. Miami-Yoder Buffaloes
The Monument Academy Lynx will head out on the road to challenge the Miami-Yoder Buffaloes at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Monument Academy couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a serious blow against Liberty Tree Academy back in December of 2023, falling 56-19.
Meanwhile, Miami-Yoder struggled with assists on Saturday (Hi-Plains had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Miami-Yoder was the victim of a rough 57-37 defeat at the hands of Hi-Plains. Miami-Yoder has struggled against Hi-Plains recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from James Orozco, who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Howard, who scored eight points.
Miami-Yoder struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Monument Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Miami-Yoder, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
