Winning always takes teamwork, but on Thursday Anya Chernich stepped things up a notch to give Monroe Catholic the 'W'. Chernich turned in nothing short of a gem, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

Chernich's strong effort led Monroe Catholic over North Pole and she'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Rams have some work to do to even out the 2-7 series between these two since April of 2021, but a win here would be a good start.
