Recap: Chazy Eagles vs. Boquet Valley Griffins
The Chazy Eagles waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They skirted past Boquet Valley 62-60. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Chazy has posted yet this season.
Chazy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Carly LaPierre led the charge by scoring 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points LaPierre has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaelyn Rentas, who scored 12 points.
Boquet Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Emily Hickey, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Hickey continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ella Lobdell, who scored 19 points along with four steals and three blocks.
Chazy pushed their record up to 7-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Boquet Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chazy on the road again on Tuesday and play against Plattsburgh at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New York (Plattsburgh is ranked 295th, while Chazy is ranked 302nd). As for Boquet Valley, they will head out on the road to square off against Willsboro Central at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
