Baseball Recap: Winchester Red & Black vs. Beverly Panthers

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Winchester had no problem doing just that on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Beverly Panthers. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Red & Black.

Nick Penicaud spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brett Daniels was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brendan Bock, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Winchester's victory bumped their record up to 14-8. As for Beverly, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-9 record.

Looking ahead, Winchester will take on Taunton on Monday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so the Red & Black's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Beverly does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
