 Highland Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Monday as the team picked up their third straight  defeat. They fell just short of the Northland Prep Academy Spartans by a score of  10-9. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Highland Prep of the  21-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in April of 2023.
  Alexis Rodda put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she  struck out ten batters over  seven innings while giving up  five earned  (and five unearned) runs off   11  hits. Rodda was even better at the plate,  going 3-for-4 with a  home run, three  stolen bases,  and three  runs. She is on a roll when it comes to  stolen bases, as she's  now  stolen  at least one in the last seven games she's  played.
 In other batting news,  Maliah Johnson was cooking despite her team's loss,   scoring two  runs and  stealing four bases while going 2-for-3.  McKenzie Woodard was another key contributor,  scoring two  runs and  stealing five bases while  getting on base  in two of her four plate appearances.
 Like Highland Prep, Northland Prep Academy also got a great game from a two-way player:  Audre Wilson. She  struck out 15 batters over  seven innings while giving up  six earned  (and three unearned) runs off   four  hits. Wilson was also stellar in the batter's box,  going 2-for-4 with three  runs, a  triple,  and a  double.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Madelyn Newton, who  scored three  runs and  stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was  Isabel Stoffers, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances.
 Highland Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Northland Prep Academy,  the  victory  got them back to even at 3-3.
 Highland Prep will be playing in front of their home fans against Phoenix Country Day at 3:45  p.m.  on Wednesday. Highland Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 10.6  runs per game this season. As for Northland Prep Academy, they will head out on the road to  face off against  St. Johns at 3:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. St. Johns is coming into the  matchup with six straight  wins at home,  so Northland Prep Academy will have to stop a  team with plenty of momentum.
