Softball Recap: Boyd Triumphs

Boyd put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They never let the Ponder Lions get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. The Yellowjackets haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

The result came thanks to Abby Atkinson's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

Boyd's record is now 22-4-2. As for Ponder, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.

Boyd and Ponder should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Yellowjackets (ranked 118th) will meet Paradise (ranked 280th) at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Boyd 2.8, the Panthers 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Ponder will take on Callisburg at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (310 vs. 999).
