Baseball Recap: Hammond Central Wolves vs. Hammond Academy of Science & Tech Hawks

Hammond Central was the 19-8 winner over Hammond Academy of Science & Tech when they last played one another back in May of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Hammond Central Wolves took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hammond Academy of Science & Tech Hawks on Saturday. Hammond Central has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Juan Magallanes was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off only two hits. Magallanes was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with a stolen base and two RBI.

On Hammond Academy of Science & Tech's side, their win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Concepcion, who scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Diego Patino was another key contributor, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and a double.
