Baseball Game Preview: Niles Vikings vs. Portage Central Mustangs

The Niles Vikings will face off against the Portage Central Mustangs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Niles' favor as the squad sits on 17 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Portage Central has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.

Niles came out on top against Elkhart on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. The Vikings walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Lions.

Lakeview hit Portage Central with a four-run seventh inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs fell 6-2 to the Spartans.

Portage Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Scotty Brown, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Niles' win bumped their record up to 17-2. As for Portage Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-15.
