Basketball Recap: Imani Frazier's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wayne over St. Vincent-St. Mary

On Saturday, the Wayne Warriors came up short against the St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish and fell 52-43. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Fighting Irish are ranked 18th).

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Imani Frazier, who posted 13 points and seven boards. What's more, Frazier also racked up two assists, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nariya Goddard, who scored nine points in addition to six rebounds and five steals.

Wayne has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for St. Vincent-St. Mary, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-1.

Wayne will take on Miamisburg at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Vincent-St. Mary has already played their next game (against Big Walnut), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
