Baseball Game Preview: West Lafayette Red Devils vs. Tipton Blue Devils

The West Lafayette Red Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Tipton Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. West Lafayette has given up an average of 7.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

West Lafayette lost 12-4 to Harrison on Tuesday.

Korbyn Keen and Ben Werth did some serious damage despite the final result: Keen went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Werth went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Keen is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Joe Doty was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Tipton came up short against Northwestern on Thursday, falling 12-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost eight in a row.

Aaden Gibbs was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

West Lafayette's loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Tipton, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-15.

Everything went West Lafayette's way against Tipton when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as West Lafayette made off with a 10-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
