Baseball Recap: Gladewater Has No Trouble Against Winona

Gladewater won the last time they faced Winona and things went their way on Monday too. The Gladewater Bears blew past the Winona Wildcats 34-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.

Mason Budro made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned runs every time he's pitched this season. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Gladewater got a massive performance out of Luke Brown, who got on base in all six of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and five RBI. The dominant performance gave Brown a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubry Floyd, who scored six runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.

Gladewater now has a winning record of 2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gladewater will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Cushing at 3:00 p.m. on February 28th. As for Winona, they will square off against Como-Pickton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Winona is coming into the game on a 12-game losing streak dating back to last season.
