Basketball Recap: Chaparral Starts Season with Win at Home

Chaparral gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They breezed past the Arcadia Titans to the tune of 90-7. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Firebirds also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2024.

Chaparral's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ellie Billstrom, who dropped a double-double with 29 points and ten rebounds. Maggie Connell was another key player, going 10-for-21 on her way to 22 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Chaparral was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Arcadia's loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Chaparral wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 59-18 win against Saguaro on the 4th. As for Arcadia, they will challenge Douglas at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
