Softball Recap: Southern Wayne Saints vs. Fike Demons
If Southern Wayne was feeling good fresh off their 16-8 takedown of Smithfield-Selma last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Southern Wayne came up short against the Fike Demons on Friday, falling 18-5. The Saints were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Demons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Southern Wayne saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Morgan Brimberry, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Southern Wayne's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Fike, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-9.
Looking ahead, Southern Wayne will head out on the road to take on Goldsboro at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Fike, they will welcome American Leadership Academy-Johnston at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
