Volleyball Recap: Schalmont Wins Going Away Against Mechanicville

Schalmont had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Mechanicville on Friday. The Sabres blew past the Red Raiders 3-0. The Sabres not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since September 18th (when they won 3-0).

The victory didn't come easy: Mechanicville scored at least 20 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-21, 25-20.

Nadia Sawyer paced Schalmont's offense, picking up 17 kills. Sawyer got some help from Olivia Dagostino and her 26 assists. Dagostino was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Schalmont's win bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Mechanicville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-8-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matches. Schalmont will head out to take on La Salle Institute at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cadets will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Sabres surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mechanicville, after both having extra time off, they and Tamarac will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
