Softball Recap: Wakulla Finds Playoff Glory Versus Yulee

Wakulla extended their postseason success on Wednesday against Yulee. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Hornets. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the War Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2022.

Jayci Mapes was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.

Wakulla hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive matchups.

Wakulla's record now sits at 24-4. As for Yulee, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-12.

Looking ahead, Wakulla will square off against Paxon School For Advanced Studies at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the War Eagles 2.7, the Golden Eagles 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Yulee does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
