Basketball Game Preview: Millennium Tigers vs. Sunnyslope Vikings

The Millennium Tigers will challenge the Sunnyslope Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Millennium comes in on three and Sunnyslope on four.

Millennium is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Desert Vista, who was ranked 14th at the time (Millennium was ranked second). Millennium secured a 62-57 W over Desert Vista on Friday.

Millennium's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Destiny Lunan led the charge by going 10 for 19 en route to 30 points and three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Lunan has scored at least a third of Millennium's points. Another player making a difference was Jayda Hunt, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Millennium smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Desert Vista only pulled down three offensive boards.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Sunnyslope's strategy against Corona del Sol on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Sunnyslope blew Corona del Sol out of the water with a 74-17 final score. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 20 points or more this season.

Millennium has also been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.5 points per game. As for Sunnyslope, they pushed their record up to 16-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Millennium couldn't quite finish off Sunnyslope when the teams last played two weeks ago and fell 52-49. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Sunnyslope's Kylie Rarrick, who went 7 of 11 from beyond the arc on her way to 26 points.
