Baseball Game Preview: St. Michael-Albertville Knights vs. Eden Prairie Eagles

The St. Michael-Albertville Knights will head out to square off against the Eden Prairie Eagles at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. St. Michael-Albertville's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Eden Prairie's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

St. Michael-Albertville was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Buffalo on Wednesday. The Knights were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Bison. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Knights considering their two-run performance the contest before.

St. Michael-Albertville got a great performance from Lincoln Rick as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave Rick a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Taylan Siens, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. CJ Splettstoesser also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

St. Michael-Albertville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Buffalo only managed six hits.

Meanwhile, Eden Prairie didn't have quite enough to beat Edina on Wednesday and fell 3-2.

St. Michael-Albertville's victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Eden Prairie, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

St. Michael-Albertville came out on top in a nail-biter against Eden Prairie in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
