Basketball Game Preview: Deckerville Eagles vs. Ubly Bearcats

Deckerville is 1-8 against Ubly since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Deckerville Eagles will be taking part in a tournament against the Ubly Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Deckerville saw some tournament action on Wednesday. Everything went their way against North Huron as Deckerville made off with a 64-41 victory. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Ubly had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They took their match with ease, bagging a 74-34 victory over the Tigers. The Bearcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 21 points or more this season.

Ubly's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.3 points over those games. As for Deckerville, their victory bumped their record up to 13-10.

Deckerville might still be hurting after the 75-50 defeat they got from Ubly when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Deckerville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
