Softball Recap: Mission Heights Prep Drops Highest Score of Season Against Maricopa Institute of Technology

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mission Heights Prep). Everything went their way against the Maricopa Institute of Technology Iron Eagles on Tuesday as they made off with a 21-10 win. Considering the Phantoms have won three matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Mission Heights Prep let Hadley Feik and Alysa Krelic-Nava run wild. Feik went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Krelic-Nava went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Krelic-Nava a new career-high. Leah Leyva was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2.

Mission Heights Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .679. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in five consecutive contests.

Mission Heights Prep has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Maricopa Institute of Technology, their loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8.
