Baseball Recap: McCallie Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Chicago Hope Academy, McCallie was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Middle Tennessee Christian Cougars 4-2. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Blue Tornado as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

McCallie got a great performance from Kelby Barnett as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Barnett a new career-high.

At the plate, Andrew Polen was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

McCallie's win bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Middle Tennessee Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Coming up, McCallie will venture away from home to square off against St. Rita at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. St. Rita has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something McCallie will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Middle Tennessee Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy at 1:30 p.m.
