Basketball Recap: Elijah Garcia Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Kellyville

There's no place like home for Crooked Oak, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against the Kellyville Ponies by a score of 62-54 on Monday. Given the Ruf-Nex's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while the Ponies are ranked 88th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Crooked Oak to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elijah Garcia, who went 6-for-11 en route to 19 points and four steals. With that strong performance, Garcia is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamel Morris, who went 7-for-16 to rack up 19 points and seven boards.

Crooked Oak's victory bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Kellyville, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7.

Crooked Oak didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 64-37 win against Destiny Christian on the 11th. As for Kellyville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 66-56 victory against Sequoyah on the 11th.
