Basketball Recap: Karlie Kimerer and Hannah Hill Secure Win for Onsted

Onsted had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Greenhills Gryphons, sneaking past 53-50. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 186th in Michigan, while the Gryphons are ranked 488th in Michigan), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Onsted was led to victory by Hannah Hill and Karlie Kimerer. Hill went 9-for-18 en route to 20 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists, while Kimerer posted 20 points and eight boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Hill has scored at least a third of Onsted's points. Lexie Klotz was another key player, putting up seven points and 16 rebounds.

Onsted smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Onsted's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-7. As for Greenhills, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.

A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats duke it out with the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Greenhills, they will challenge Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lutheran has 15 straight wins, Greenhills has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
