Softball Recap: Slaughter Community Charter Has No Trouble Against Episcopal

Slaughter Community Charter won the last time they faced Episcopal and things went their way on Thursday too. Slaughter Community Charter put the hurt on Episcopal with a sharp 14-4 win.

Rylee Maglone was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. What's more, she gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in February. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caroline Smith, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Faust, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Slaughter Community Charter is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. Episcopal's loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

Coming up, Slaughter Community Charter will challenge Notre Dame at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Episcopal, they are taking a road trip to take on Newman at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Newman has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.36 runs per game on average), something Episcopal will no doubt try to take advantage of.
