Soccer Game Preview: La Vega vs. Lorena

La Vega is on an eight-game streak of home wins, while Lorena is on an eight-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The La Vega Pirates will welcome the Lorena Leopards at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

La Vega's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on China Spring with a sharp 3-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won three in a row.

Ramiro Varela and Gael Hernandez scored all three of La Vega's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 39 goals.

Meanwhile, Lorena's game on Tuesday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They blew past Meyer 4-1.

Lorena is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up five goals over those 12 games. La Vega's victory bumped their record up to 16-1.

La Vega came out on top in a nail-biter against Lorena in their previous matchup back in February, sneaking past 1-0. Will La Vega repeat their success, or does Lorena have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
