Baseball Recap: Lamar's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Lamar and Bowie have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Vikings never let the Volunteers get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. The Vikings were shut out 4-0 the last time they took on the Volunteers, so the Vikings were just returning the favor.

Colton Quesada was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lamar is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-15-1 otherwise. Quesada was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

With the win, Lamar broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-17-1. As for Bowie, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 10-17 record.

Lamar will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Volunteers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
