Baseball Recap: Haverling Wins Going Away Against Campbell-Savona

Haverling barely beat Campbell-Savona the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rams were the clear victors by a 17-5 margin over the Panthers on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.

Dylan Wenban and Eric Carney-Hendrix made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Wenban pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Carney-Hendrix struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. At bat, Wenban scored five runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-6, while Carney-Hendrix scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Wenban has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Gage Thomas was a standout: he scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-5. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lukas Wightman, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances.

Haverling was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .386. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Campbell-Savona only posted a batting average of .185.

Haverling's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Campbell-Savona, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Haverling will square off against Wellsville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Campbell-Savona, they will host Alfred-Almond at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. This will be the Panthers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
