Preview: Cross Trojans vs. St. John's Islanders
Cross and St. John are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Cross Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the St. John's Islanders at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Cross focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday.
In what's become a running theme this season, Cross gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Charleston Math & Science 72-40 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Cross has posted since December 2, 2023.
Jamez Way continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Way is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Ramsey, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, St. John's was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 37-32 to Military Magnet Academy.
Cross' victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4. As for St. John's, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.
Cross strolled past St. John's in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a score of 55-40. Does Cross have another victory up their sleeve, or will St. John's turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
