Softball Recap: Seaford Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Laurel

Seaford faced Laurel in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Bluejays came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 18-3. The Bluejays have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Jordyn Evans made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. Ariyanna Lake also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Seaford's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Laurel, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seaford will host Nandua at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.4 runs per game on average), something the Bluejays will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Laurel, they will welcome St. Mark's at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
