League recap: Spencerport rises, Brockport falls in league standings

Section 5 Monroe County I league recap: 5/7/12

Spencerport made the biggest jump in the standings this week, moving from sixth to second place in the league thanks to a 3-1 record over the past seven days. Meanwhile, Brockport fell hardest in the standings, dropping from first all the way to seventh place after going 0-3 in the past week. Penfield (10-1, 7-1) is now in first place.

The league's longest active winning streak belongs to the Patriots (10-1, 7-1), undefeated over their last five games. The streak was extended by another 4 games over the past week, includinga 2-1 victory over Webster Thomas.

Webster Thomas boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks. The Titans's pitchers have been charged with only 56 hits and have struck out 92 batters. Logan Harasta is tops on the staff with 26 Ks.

Webster Thomas's Conor Mccabe finished his week with eight hits, tops in the league. On the season, he's hitting .472 and ranks first in the league with 17 hits.
