Volleyball Recap: Lovie Eastep-Harris Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Cheney

Lewis & Clark had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Cheney on Tuesday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Blackhawks with a sharp 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Blackhawks: they've now won six in a row.

Lewis & Clark's got stronger as the match went on, holding Cheney to fewer and fewer points set over set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-18, 25-17.

Lewis & Clark got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lovie Eastep-Harris out in front who had 11 digs and five assists. Eastep-Harris has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of McKenzie Kelly, who had seven digs and two aces.

Lewis & Clark was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in three consecutive matches.

Lewis & Clark now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Cheney, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

Lewis & Clark has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 defeat against Mt. Spokane on the 9th. As for Cheney, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Central Valley on the 9th.
