Basketball Game Preview: Cuyama Valley Bears vs. Valley Christian Academy Lions

Cuyama Valley hasn't had much luck against Valley Christian Academy recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Cuyama Valley Bears will venture away from home to square off against the Valley Christian Academy Lions at 6:30 p.m.

Cuyama Valley is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 68 points on Friday, they were much more limited against Maricopa on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a 55-18 loss at the hands of the Indians.

Meanwhile, Valley Christian Academy waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Grizzlies 62-35. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 24 points or more this season.

Valley Christian Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-8. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for Cuyama Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Cuyama Valley was taken down by Valley Christian Academy 51-12 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Cuyama Valley was down 25-1.
