Basketball Recap: Frankie Raines Jr's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Stratford Academy over Tattnall Square Academy

Stratford Academy suffered their closest loss since November 25, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the Tattnall Square Academy Trojans by a score of 57-54. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 63-62 two weeks ago.

Stratford Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Frankie Raines Jr, who went 8 of 20 en route to 18 points along with seven boards and six steals. The game was Raines Jr's sixth in a row with at least 18 points. Bobby Wooten was another key player, going 5 for 11 to rack up 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Stratford Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive matchups.

Stratford Academy's loss dropped their record down to 19-6. As for Tattnall Square Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season.
