Basketball Recap: Makenzie Goode-Roberts Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat North Rowan

A.L. Brown hadn't done well against North Rowan recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Wonders secured a 51-46 W over the Cavaliers. This was payback for the Wonders, who suffered a 54-49 loss the last time these two teams met.

A.L. Brown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Makenzie Goode-Roberts led the charge by putting up 15 points. That's the most points Goode-Roberts has posted since back in November of 2024. London Gray was another key player, posting 13 points.

Despite the loss, North Rowan still got an impressive performance from Kanya Cowan, who went 6-for-15 en route to 17 points in addition to six boards and five assists. London Luckey also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steals of the season.

A.L. Brown is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.2 points over those games. As for North Rowan, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A.L. Brown will head out to take on Harding University at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wonders will be up against the Rams' rather soft defense (which has allowed 62 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for North Rowan, they will venture away from home to face off against East Forsyth at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
