Softball Recap: Forsyth Takes a Loss

After flying high against Spokane on Wednesday, Forsyth came back down to earth. The Panthers fell just short of the Ava Bears by a score of 8-7 on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 7-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Libby Hunter was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, five RBI, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Holmberg, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Forsyth has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 14 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-20 record this season. As for Ava, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Forsyth will square off against Miller at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cardinals' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Ava, they will challenge Hollister at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
